Shots
My sweet baby had his first shots on Friday. No fun!! He had four shots, DtAP, Polio, Hib, and PC. He was pretty groggy and feverish the first 24 hours, but seems to be feeling much better today. I have been going back and forth in my mind about shots... which ones to get or decline, or to get any at all, however then there is the risk of my small child catching something nasty, which would be terrible. I have been reading a book by Dr. Robert Sears called the Vaccine Book and he recommends getting only two shots a month and then going each month instead every couple for shots. I would love to hear opinions from any readers of what you think or what you have done for your child. I want to do what is best for him, especially with all of our visits to the hospital and all the other places we go that are germ infested, I feel that getting the shots will protect him... but it certainly is hard to know... let me hear from you:)

Hannah-
Hey- I was reading your blog and thought I would drop a little of my opinion on shots. I agree with you that it is a tough decision to make but this is the selling point for me....we are the parents of these little gifts and it is our job to protect them in which ever way possible. Although shots are not fun to go through I just keep thinking in my mind that they are protecting my precious girls from anything that could be way worse than a little poke. Shots suck and I totally dread getting them done, but they are something that have been given to kids for years and I don't think I could ever forgive myself if they were to get sick because I DID NOT vaccinate. Just remember to give little Lukie a dose of tylenol before his shots to help with the pain. The 1st 2 years are brutal as far as shots go but then its smooth sailing. Its hard being a mommy sometimes...so many tough decisions that another life is based on!!! But the main thing is that you do what you feel is right for your child. Take care and enjoy your vacation:)

I went back and forth, back and forth - even in the doctor's office! What finally convinced us was trying to imagine our children with polio or Hepatitis. No thanks. I'll take the risk of having them immunized. They need it, especially with the huge influx of people coming into the country from other countries who are bringing with them strange diseases.
Anyway, so fun to keep up with you on your blog!

Hey Hannah-
We are choosing not to vaccinate the twins until they are older. My husbands oldest son (13) is the product of the vaccination schedule with mercury that caused him to be severely dyslexic and bordering autistic, with severe learning disorders. My girlfriends son is the product of vaccinations making his brain swell and has not been able to walk, talk, or use any sort of muscle funtion. At three years old he is just now able to begin walking in a specialized walker. I am going to vaccinate when they are older, but I have had too many personal encounters with what toxins in vaccinations have done. I have done extensive research and the more I do the scarier it is. I felt that the best book I have read is the Vaccination Safety Manual for Concerned Families & Health Practicioners: Guide to Immunization Risks and Protection by Neil Miller. We worked too hard for these babies and after reading ingredients and documented effects, I would rather take my chances with them not receiving any until they have to go to school and their immune system has a fighting chance.
I would love to discuss more too, and maybe get your opinion as well...email me anytime at courtney.williams@charter.net
P.S. Luke is such a little man! He is absoultely adorable!!!!
