Caucusing with Joe Dirt
This year I was very sad that I was not in Iowa to be a part of the caucus. I heard so much about Iowa on the news out here. I think in the past I did not realize what a big deal it was and the caucus sounded like so much fun.
Well Coy and I got our chance Tuesday evening. We found our precinct in the jam packed room and began to learn all about the caucus. I was a bit disappointed. I thought we would be seeking out other people voting for the canidate we were and then seeing how many people we had so we could choose delegates... not the case. We had to pick three delegates and these men will go and represent our pecinct, but not our presidential choice, which makes no sense what so ever. Well Coy and I knew one of our neighbors would vote the same as us, Huckabee!!!! He is a very clean cut, nice man and he was nominated to be a delegate. Then there was this other younger guy, very skinny, and a complete mullet hair due. Everyone was voting for this guy to be our delegate. He won every vote it seems... except for about 4 of us. When Coy and I left, after casting our vote for Huckabee in a straw poll,we were laughing our heads off. I said "So now we basically have Joe Dirt representing us at the national convention... great!!!" If you haven't seen Joe Dirt... just google him and you will see what I am talking about.
I guess this was one night that made me feel like a real adult... taking part in something important, something that matters for my child, and something that I won't soon forget thanks to the mullet man.
